florence [again]

This isn't the first time I've posted about Florence on the blog, and it definitely won't be the last. Literally in love with this video, I mean, HER HAIR. It looks like tassels. it looks like a pyramid. It also kind of looks like her semi-controversial Met-Ball dress (which of course, I loved!).

She's just so flawless.

Anyway, I have to get back to packing - I'm going to France for a week!

Actually just looked at my 'Florence' post about 'What The Water Gave Me', and it was also written just before I was going to France for a week... SPOOKY!

à bientôt!

tune for Tuesday

I'm just so in love with this woman at the moment. If you haven't bought her album Ceremonials yet then you're missing out!

Also, how amazing is her dress?! Anyone know where it's from? Probably vintage... *EDIT* The dress is Gucci, swoon.

Happy Tuesday, and more importantly, Happy New Year!

tune for Tuesday

So... I haven't done one of these in a while.

I realise pretty much everyone knows this song/video. I have to say, however, I don't really 'get' it, but I am trying, I really am. It's just so... repetitive. I thought music maths would work something like: Rihanna + Calvin Harris = AMAZE.

But.. just... I don't know. Having said that, I effing LOVE the video.

Nevertheless, I am making the effort for a very special friend  that I'll be staying with in London in just under three weeks (here's to you Dominic)! More on that later.

So what do you guys think of the song? Love/hate/indifferent?

florence

Love Florence and the Machine. The video for her new song 'What the Water Gave Me' is so simple but perfect. Love the hat and ethereal white dress.

Screen shots by me, from Vevo on YouTube.

Off to France for a week tomorrow (for the fourth time in four months...), à bientôt!

hair issues

Sooooooo... Hair. Somehow, it's always an issue for me. Throughout my teens I dyed it a multitude of shades (though never anything bright... I tended to stick to the blonde>brunette spectrum) and once that made it too dead to dye, I switched up my hairstyles. This was of course until I wanted really long wavy hair like the Olsens... So that pretty much leads us to this moment...

I have been growing my hair for 2 years. 2 years, people. I was plodding along with my waves blowing in the breeze, whipping it around to Willow Smith etc... then I see the above editorial. And suddenly, I want it short again. FML. And now, short hair is everywhere! Alexa Chung... Marina from Marina and the Diamonds (see below)... It's stalking me...
So should I do it? Do I take the plunge? Or will I regret it?

Also, how nice is this editorial? Stolen and scanned (by me) from Aug '11 Vogue UK.

That pretty much sums up my life dilemmas at the moment... So as it's a Tuesday, here's a tune! Love this new song from Marina... and her new hair, of course.

tune for Tuesday

This is my happy song, and today I am 'très heureux'.

Lots of reasons to be happy right now: got a new job today (nothing exciting, but better than my current), I'm going to Edinburgh this weekend, I'm now going to France in September (again...) and I ordered a hat of ASOS that I've wanted for agesssssssssssssss... and it was in the sale. Score.

More soon! X

tune for Tuesday

It's my birthday tomorrow! Time is literally racing by... how did we get to august so quickly (yes i know I said a similar thing at the beginning of July)?!

Not doing much to celebrate tomorrow (, but this weekend some of my favourite people are coming to town. We may or may not get our groove on to this song (I do an amazing redition of the Nicki Minaj rap... it's a hidden talent), whilst drinking too many mojitos and then passing out in an alcoholic haze into a room that I'm trying to turn into some kind of massive mattress.

Can Friday hurry up already?

winehouse

Can't really believe this.

RIP Amy Winehouse. Such loss of talent, regardless of what she may or may not have done in her spare time.

Update: Also just want to express sympathy to those in Norway... obviously the events there are also devastating, and in my thoughts. There are no words really.

Tried typing but actually have nothing to say for once.
This. Never. Happens.
Guess there just isn't a lot going on at the moment!

tune for Tuesday

It needs to be said that I really didn't want to like this Lady Gaga album. 'Born this way' really got on my tits, and despite having a really good message (everyone should accept themselves the way they are), it's just fucking annoying. That song, coupled with her just getting more weird and, in my opinion, attention seeking, meant that I was reluctant to even consider listening to it.
The album, however, is good. Annoyingly good. This song is my favourite, and I have no idea why since I usually shy away from anything loaded with religious connotations/messages/general undertones. Nevertheless I can't get it out of my head.

Perhaps it's the single line of french sneaking its way into the second verse. Ha.

tune for Tuesday

Two songs today. The first because I'm really in love with Oh Land at the moment, and this song is kind of enchanting.
The second because it reminds me of the fact that this morning I was in France, and I did, in fact, spend this morning on a 'big jet plane' (complete with the obligatory Ryan Air fanfare upon landing... oh how I love budget air travel).

More later... Happy Tuesday!

Currently enjoying this band thanks to a musically inclined friend. Nothing like discovering new (to me) music.

you played it to the beat

I think I am literally in love with Adele. I still listen to her first album all the time (it's perfect for an afternoon nap), so when these two songs found their way onto YouTube I was ecstatic.

I have quite literally been listening to them on repeat. I do tend to get a little obsessive when it comes to finding a song/album I love. I think that I'll always love whatever Adele comes out with though. Not only does she have an uh-mazing voice, but we are a similar age and it all seems relevant to life as I know it and experience it. Her songs definitely hold a lot of memories for me!

Also currently listening to Rihanna - Only Girl in the World, Ellie Goulding - Your Song and anything Mumford and Sons. The latter have been on repeat for about the past 6months. I love it when music doesn't become tiresome.
