nailed

Warning: This post may or may not contain a close up of a small, chubby hand.*

So just a quick post to show some nails I did whilst being bored and feeling experimental. I had intended to do an ombre between two polishes in different shades of the same colour, but like most things I do it didn't quite go to plan.

This is what I ended up with; a kind of glitter effect that I'm not even sure should be classed as 'ombre'. That's not, however, to say I dislike it. Although it perhaps isn't to everyone's taste, the bronze/white collision is enough of an unintentional (and somewhat far fetched) reference to Narnia** (Aslan - bronze vs the ice witch -white? Anyone?) that I'm happy. If you're looking for a more 'fashion related' theme then it also kinda reminds me of the Topshop Unique S/S '12 collection but I prefer Narnia.

In case anyone's interested, this is the easiest thing to do; it didn't even require a tutorial. Just paint the base coat and then dab on the other colour with a sponge. most tutorials recommend professional makeup sponges... I stole a sponge from my kitchen, that would otherwise be used to clean dishes.***
In terms of polish I used: the bronze is Topshop's nail polish in Glimmer, the white is 17 Lasting Fix Polish in 'Mini Skirt'.****

*It's a curse, I'm over it.
**The Narnia books/TV series/films were my childhood favourites... and it's a love that has stayed with me into adulthood.
*** Don't worry I used a clean, unused sponge.
****I wouldn't recommend this particular white polish - I needed 5 coats(!!) for an even finish.
